Martha’s Table Partners with Donovan McNabb for Thanksgiving

Washington Redskins Quarterback Celebrates His Birthday by Distributing Food Baskets to Area Children and Families.

Martha’s Table announced today a partnership with Donovan McNabb, quarterback of the Washington Redskins, and his family, to distribute Thanksgiving food baskets to the Washington, D.C. community.

Overall, the McNabb family and Martha’s Table handed out 100 Thanksgiving baskets to children and families in need this holiday season. The McNabb family toured the Martha’s Table facility on 14th Street NW and then gave away food baskets and turkeys to Martha’s Table, as well as Shaw Middle School families and staff. The Thanksgiving baskets were filled with food from local Martha’s Table supporters and produce donated from the Philadelphia Regional Produce Market.

Mr. McNabb even received his own surprise from the children in the after-school program at Martha’s Table, who made homemade birthday cards and a video birthday wish from the teen program for his upcoming 34th birthday. Mr. McNabb was born on Thanksgiving Day in 1976.

“It says a lot about Donovan McNabb that upon moving to a new city, he quickly looks to see how he can become involved in the community,” said Lindsey Buss , President of Martha’s Table.  “His character and class make him an incredible role model for the children and youth in our education programs and we are very grateful and proud to have him here.  It is a tremendous morale boost for all our families, staff and volunteers to have Donovan McNabb and his family join us in distributing Thanksgiving Baskets.”
