Martha’s Table’s renovated garden will foster educational opportunities and intergenerational connections.
With the help of caring people like you, Martha’s Table took bold action to meet a 400% increase in need last year in Washington, D.C.
Thousands of D.C. neighbors continue to turn to Martha’s Table for support each week. We are not stopping. Your support helps provide:
Combined Federal Campaign #29262 | United Way #8445
Nearly overnight, we expanded our grocery distribution by 400%—supporting as many as 2,200 neighbors in a single day.
It is a common misunderstanding that the healthy food we distribute is all donated to Martha’s Table.
Your donation helps us purchase food from the local food bank and other sources to ensure no neighbor goes without access to healthy food
We honor the dignity of every neighbor who turns to Martha’s Table and provide fresh fruits, vegetables, and shelf-stable items at no-cost; no questions asked.
Martha’s Table continues to provide 5,000 families with fresh fruits, vegetables, and shelf-stable items each WEEK. But we need your help.
Many neighbors are turning to Martha’s Table for the first time.
One neighbor, Wanda, unexpectedly found herself without an income when the childcare center she worked at closed in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Thankfully, she heard from a friend about Martha’s Table and our no-cost food program.
Martha’s Table believes every child should have the opportunity to thrive. We provide nationally accredited early education from birth through four years of age and support parents with the resources they need as family leaders.
The economic collapse hit the families enrolled in our education program hard. Devastatingly, by April 2020, 9 in 10 of our families had been financially impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak, and more than half were concerned about their ability to pay rent the next month.
Because of supporters like you, we were able to take bold action. In 2020, we provided $9,000 in direct-cash assistance to the 137 families with children in our education program to relieve financial pressures and keep families strong. The bold impact of this program led Martha’s Table to form the THRIVE East of the River partnership with peer Ward 8 nonprofits. Together, we are providing 500 families with direct-cash assistance and other essential supports.
Throughout it all, our wonderful teachers have been a steady support for the children in our education program. Our teachers creatively supported children and their parents through virtual learning, and now have returned to on-site learning to help children grow and develop in our classrooms.
Rain, snow, sleet, or global pandemic…McKenna’s Wagon rolls out every night of the year. We continue to support 200+ neighbors experiencing hunger or housing insecurity with the help of our tremendous volunteers. Each meal pack includes a warm, fresh meal, nutritious snacks, and a large water.
Our small-but-mighty McKenna’s Wagon team has stepped up to ensure we have our freshly-made meals each night.
