You know we love all things Southeast at Martha’s Table! What better way to show our love than to share some of our team’s favorite attractions and experiences throughout Wards 7 & 8. Take some time to discover the unique places and people in our neighborhood!

1. Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum

For over 50 years, the Anacostia Community Museum has uplifted and magnified local voices and stories to inspire collective action and serve as an incubator for future generations. Their current exhibit, The Food for the People: Eating and Activism in Greater Washington digs deeper into the nation’s food issues through an outdoor showcase that includes art installations. The free admission exhibit runs until September 17, 2022, and there is free parking available on-site. Located at 1901 Fort Place SE Washington, DC 20020.

2. Mama’s Pizza Kitchen

Mama’s Pizza Kitchen has been serving authentic Italian cuisine for the last decade in the heart of historic Anacostia. Their handmade pizzas, sandwiches, and pasta have kept many locals coming back for more. One of a handful of dine-in restaurants in Ward 8, Mama’s Pizza Kitchen is the place to share a meal with a special someone. 3. Congress Heights Art & Culture Center

The Congress Heights Art & Culture Center (CHACC) is a community-led space committed to cultivating and promoting arts and cultural opportunities in Wards 7 & 8. Treat yourself of your valentine to an evening of art and drinks at the Paint & Sip event, hosted at CHACC, on Feb 19, 2022 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. 4. Anacostia Riverwalk Trail

Anacostia Riverwalk Trail in the Anacostia Park provides a wonderful opportunity to get active with a breathtaking view. The 3.5-mile paved trail which parallels the Anacostia River passes green space and wildlife. It’s a great activity for people looking to spend time outdoors! 5. Roaming Rooster

Roaming Rooster, a District favorite and the newest addition to Ward 8’s Skyland Town Center, brings together quality and taste! As a D.C Back-owned restaurant, Roaming Rooster earned its reputation as the go-to place with their famous fried chicken sandwich. They only use free-range chickens and are committed to infusing happiness into each meal they prepare. Located at 2710 Good Hope Rd SE Washington, DC 20020.
