We cannot thank you enough for standing with Martha’s Table during the COVID-19 crisis. We’ve more than quadrupled our healthy grocery distribution with your partnership and continued to serve our neighbors every night on McKenna’s Wagon.
During this time period, most volunteer shifts will be based at The Commons in Southeast D.C. (2375 Elvans Rd. SE Washington, DC 20020)
All of our shifts are available on our VolunteerHub calendar.
We sincerely appreciate your flexibility as we navigate this crisis. Questions or concerns? Click here to visit our FAQ page.
At Martha’s Table, the health and wellbeing of our volunteers, staff, and neighbors are our highest priority. Volunteers are required to wear a mask or face covering during their volunteer shift.
Under the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and DC Health, we are taking precautions to protect our community. Our policies enforce social distancing, proper hygiene, and safe interactions during our hours of operation and volunteer shifts.

Families are eligible for diapers (per baby) once every four weeks.
Caseworkers/grandparents/friends/ etc. can pick up for families but they must bring copies or photos of documentation.
Operations at Martha’s Outfitters have resumed.
We have more than quadrupled the reach of our grocery programs, all at no cost to our neighbors. Each week, we support over 8,000 D.C. residents with fresh produce and healthy pantry staples, distributing more than 100,000 pounds of food at 20 sites across the city.
We continue to deliver essential nutrition to our neighbors who are experiencing hunger or housing instability through McKenna’s Wagon, our no-cost food truck that serves warm meals, sandwiches, and healthy snacks every single evening.
Standing alongside the 137 families enrolled in our education programs, we have doubled-down on our support by providing them with direct cash assistance, groceries store gift cards, and essential supplies like diapers, wipes, and formula during the temporary closure of our education centers.

In May 1983, Bethesda United Methodist Church collected 277 sandwiches to support Martha’s Table and its program McKenna’s Wagon, for the first time. In May 2023, the church celebrated 40 years of support by collecting over 2,000 sandwiches and trail mix.

What I enjoy most about being a father is just the happiness I feel from giving unconditional love and protection. I love being there for them and hearing them say “That’s my dad” proudly to their friends.
