Community Impact Fund Spotlight 14: William O. Lockridge Community Foundation
About the William O. Lockridge Community Foundation,
The William O. Lockridge Community Foundation (WOLCF) was founded in 2011 as a non-profit organization with a mission to support the educational aspirations of students in Wards 7 and 8 in Southeast Washington, D.C. The foundation is dedicated to ensuring that students have access to higher education through scholarships, emergency financial aid, and international travel opportunities. WOLCF runs initiatives like the Emergency Student Assistance Fund, International Ambassadors Program, U.S. Foreign Service Initiative, and various scholarship programs to help students achieve their academic goals.
With the support of the Community Impact Grant, WOLCF has sponsored five students to travel to Madagascar, including covering their visas and passports. Through experiences like these, WOLCF aims to cultivate an understanding and appreciation for other cultures while nurturing critical thinking skills in their students.

About Martha’s Table Community Impact Fund:
The Martha’s Table Community Impact Fund is a grant program that strengthens and amplifies the work of Ward 8 nonprofit organizations. This direct investment helps build capacity for organizations historically excluded from institutional philanthropy and whose leadership and staff reflect the demographic, composition, and lived experiences of the communities they serve. For the 2023-2024 grant cycle, grants of up to $15,000 in unrestricted funds were awarded to 14 organizations that were selected by a committee of 38 Ward 8 residents.
