We know that emotional wellness is not one-size-fits-all. For some, it looks like having access to professional support. For others, it means finding moments of creativity, conversation, or connection that help restore balance and build community. Through accessible emotional wellness programming, we focus on healing, expression, and care.
Art as Healing
Art reminds us that healing can take many forms and that joy, imagination, and creativity are essential to wellness. Through our Art as Healing programming, neighbors gather on Fridays to engage in creative experiences that encourage self-expression, reflection, and connection. Whether painting, drawing, or participating in collaborative projects, these spaces offer opportunities to slow down, process emotions, and build community through shared creativity.
“Emotional Wellness programming provides a Healthy Happy Hour with activities, mocktails, snacks, and much more, as well as Art as Healing, which will encourage you to put your emotions in the artwork.” – Kiea Murphy, Outreach and Engagement Coordinator
Creating Space for Connection
Community care also means creating environments where people can gather authentically and support one another. Our Healthy Happy Hours on Wednesday evenings bring neighbors together in welcoming spaces that encourage conversation, connection, and stress relief. These gatherings help foster a sense of belonging while reducing isolation, an important part of supporting emotional wellness. Through shared mocktails and wellness activities, we continue building spaces where neighbors feel seen, valued, and connected to one another.
Connecting Neighbors to Support
While community-centered activities play an important role in wellness, access to professional mental health care is also critical. We recognize that navigating mental health resources can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when barriers like cost, stigma, or access exist. That’s why we help connect neighbors to individual counseling referrals and additional mental health resources when deeper support is needed. By partnering with trusted providers and organizations, we work to ensure community members can access care that supports their emotional and mental well-being.
“Meeting with a qualified therapist one-on-one allows our community members to get expertly tailored support during some of the most challenging times of their lives. This results in fewer emotional, financial, and familial impacts often seen with mental health concerns. We are so proud of our partnerships with Community Wellness Ventures, which allows us to offer these services at no cost to our community.” – Sarina Sechrist, Director of Emotional Wellness
Wellness in the Workplace
Our commitment to wellness extends beyond our community programming and is reflected in how we support each other at Martha’s Table. We recognize that fostering a healthy workplace culture is essential to sustaining meaningful impact in the community. We strive to create an environment where employees feel supported personally and professionally through wellness-centered practices, opportunities for connection, and access to resources that prioritize emotional well-being.
This work reflects our broader belief that care, balance, and community should be woven into every part of our organization. We are honored to announce that Mental Health America (MHA), a leading nonprofit focused on mental health advocacy and prevention, has named us a 2026 Gold recipient of the Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring employees feel valued, supported, and connected while advancing our mission every day.

Fathers in DC are showing up every day and on June 13, Martha’s Table is creating space to celebrate that and build on it. The Fatherhood Summit: Reshaping the Narrative of Our Fathers is a no-cost, full-day gathering for dads, father figures, and male caregivers.
