This past Saturday, Martha’s Table came together with neighbors, volunteers, and friends to celebrate our Annual Community Harvest Dinner, and what a celebration it was. With hundreds of meals served, the day was a joyful reflection of community, dignity, and shared purpose.
Hosted just up the street from our headquarters, the Panorama Room at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church was buzzing from the moment the doors opened. Smiles, laughter, and the feeling of togetherness filled the space. One first-time guest summed it up perfectly:
“I saw so many people, and everybody had a smile on their face… I want to go where those people were.”
This year’s spread had folks going back for seconds without hesitation. Guests raved about the perfectly seasoned turkey, collard greens, cornbread, mac and cheese, and all the favorites that anchor a true community feast. As one attendee put it:
“The food was awesome. The music was fantastic… Please come next year. Enjoy yourself. You’re going to be full. Bring your family and friends.”
The Harvest Dinner has always been about more than plates piled high with good food. It is a space where people feel seen, heard, and valued. It is a place where joy is present, dignity leads, and community thrives. Kids danced between tables, old friends reunited, and new neighbors found easy conversation over shared meals.
Moments like these remind us why we do this work: to create connection, share abundance, and celebrate one another.
Events like this do not happen by accident. After weeks of planning, every detail came together because of the dedication, teamwork, and flexibility of our staff, volunteers, and partners. From the volunteers who served meals with a smile to the crew behind the scenes making sure everything ran smoothly, you made this day unforgettable.
As we wrap up another successful Harvest Dinner, we are carrying the warmth of this weekend into everything to come. This is what Martha’s Table is all about: nurturing strong, joyful, and connected communities. One shared meal, one smile, one moment of care at a time.
We look forward to celebrating with you again next year.

Fathers in DC are showing up every day and on June 13, Martha’s Table is creating space to celebrate that and build on it. The Fatherhood Summit: Reshaping the Narrative of Our Fathers is a no-cost, full-day gathering for dads, father figures, and male caregivers.
