In a world where men are often taught to be stoic and tough, it’s time to challenge that narrative and make health a priority. We’re thrilled to announce our second annual Men’s Health Summit, a gathering dedicated to reshaping how we think about men’s health and encouraging open conversations. Join us on Saturday, September 26, for a transformative day focused on the incredible men in our community as they take charge of their well-being.
“All too often, men put their health last, especially in our community. This summit aims to change that story by bringing men—sons, fathers, brothers, and uncles—together to get checked, get connected, and take charge of their health. We can’t afford to ignore men’s health any longer. This event is a reminder that our health matters, and it’s time we start prioritizing it.” – Matt Miller, District Dad’s Program Coordinator
Last year, the Men’s Health Summit sparked important dialogues, and this year, we’re taking it a step further. Our summit aims to break the stigma surrounding men’s health by creating a space where conversations about physical and mental wellness are not only welcomed but celebrated.
At the heart of this event is our commitment to fostering a culture where men feel comfortable discussing their health challenges, getting regular health screenings, and sharing personal experiences. We’re equipping our community with the knowledge they need to understand their health metrics, increase physical activity, and break down the myths that often hold us back from seeking help.
This year, the Men’s Health Summit, in partnership with the DC Department of Health, will feature a diverse lineup of health professionals who will share valuable insights, address the unique health challenges men face, and provide actionable advice on nutrition, mental health, and overall wellness.
But it’s not just about expert knowledge; it’s about community connection. Through the success of our District Dad’s program and Fatherhood Summits, we’ve learned that one of the most important factors in prioritizing men’s health is hearing directly from their peers—fathers, grandfathers, and mentors who are committed to creating healthier communities. When men in our community openly share their experiences and support one another, it creates a ripple effect that can lead to healthier families, neighborhoods, and future generations. District Dad’s Program Coordinator Matt Miller adds, “We’ve been conditioned to push through pain and go it alone, but we don’t have to. Prioritizing our health is a strength.”
The Men’s Health Summit is an opportunity to engage with one another and learn from local leaders who are dedicated to breaking the silence around heart health, hypertension, stress, and more. Our goal is simple yet powerful: to inspire men to be proactive about their health and to show that being healthy means having the strength to care for oneself and one’s loved ones.
“When men come together, share their stories, and lift each other up, we create a space where health and wellness are possible. We’re not alone, and that’s the power of this summit.” – Matt Miller, District Dads Program Coordinator
Join us as we reshape the narrative surrounding men’s health, foster open dialogues, and encourage each other to thrive. We invite everyone to spread the word with the fathers, sons, and partners in your community. Let’s move from toughing it out to truly taking care of ourselves. Your health matters, and together, we can create a future where every man feels empowered to speak up and take charge of his health.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be part of a movement that celebrates men’s health as a priority. Let’s break the mold and build a healthier future together! We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, September 26!
