Automotive Technician Training

Martha’s Table, in partnership with Vehicles for Change, delivers an innovative 14-week Virtual Reality Auto Technician Training Program. Participants gain hands-on experience, prepare for three Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications, and step confidently into high-demand automotive technician careers.

The next cohort will start May, 18 2026.

Information sessions will take place March 6, 13, 20, 27 and April, 1 and 8.

Program /Benefits

Aligned with Martha’s Table’s strategic focus on economic mobility, the Virtual Reality Auto Technician Training Program equips DC residents with the skills to enter high-demand, high-wage careers. With over 470,000 new automotive technicians needed nationally by 2028, this 14-week program prepares participants for Automotive Service Excellence Entry-Level Certifications through immersive VR and hands-on training. Participants gain a direct pathway to employment, financial incentives of up to $2,000, and holistic support including career coaching, job readiness, and access to essential resources.

Eligibility /Requirements

This training is ideal for community members who are ready to take the next step toward a stable, well-paying career. No prior automotive experience is required.

Must be 18 years or older and live in Washington DC.

Must be able to attend in-person classes (Monday - Thursday, 10 AM–2 PM) at Martha’s Table.

Must complete an interview and aptitude screening.

Must commit to the full 14-week program and follow attendance guidelines.
