Home Is Where the Heart (and Learning!) Is: Discover Our Family Visiting Program

Choosing the right support for your family is essential to nurturing your child’s growth and well-being. At Martha’s Table, we are committed to providing personalized guidance through our Family Visiting Program, designed to meet the unique needs of families living in Ward 7 and Ward 8, as well as families in the District who are experiencing homelessness.

A Program Centered on Families

We believe every parent deserves a strong support network, so we center our program around you—the caregiver—empowering you to be your child’s first and most important teacher. With the Family Visiting Program, you receive more than just visits—it’s personalized support for you on your terms. Our Family Visiting Program focuses on strengthening family relationships, promoting healthy child development, and connecting families with essential community resources–and each other.

Here’s how it stands out:

  • Personalized Visits: We bring our services directly to you—whether at your home, library, or community center. You can also choose to visit us at Martha’s Table and meet in our comfortable Family Room. Our trained family visitors offer support and guidance specifically tailored to your family’s unique needs.
  • Flexibility: We offer the flexibility to meet when it’s convenient for you, making it easier for you to participate without disrupting your day-to-day routine.
  • Family-Centered Focus: We center our support on you and your family and focus on strengthening your family relationships to ensure you have the tools to help your child thrive.
  • Community Connections: We help you build a network and tap into the broader community. You’ll also have the chance to connect with other families through fun, family outings, and additional programming.

“The program has changed the way I do things with my child. We read more books together, arts and crafts. We talk to each other more. And we are doing a lot more outside activities together. The program has affected me by offering insight into learning how to budget my money and have a college fund for my child. So now I put aside some change in a jar for my child. And I have opened up another account for my child’s future.” – Tytiana J.

Participants enjoy access to a range of resources and benefits, including:

  • Supportive Services: Families can shop for children’s clothing and professional attire for adults at Martha’s Outfitters at no cost and access many different supportive services.
  • Investing in Your Child’s Future: After one year of enrollment, Martha’s Table contributes $1,000 to a DC College Savings Plan account, helping secure a strong financial foundation for your child’s future education.
  • Priority Access to Center-Based Learning: Families enrolled in the Family Visiting Program are given priority on the waitlist if they are interested in our center-based early childhood education program.
