Everyone deserves access to fresh, nourishing food, no matter their financial situation. That’s why we’re proud to provide high-quality, nutritious options through our Martha’s Table Markets and Joyful Food Markets—essential community resources that support families in making healthy choices. March is National Nutrition Month, but we believe in celebrating and prioritizing nutrition every day of the year!
Every day, hundreds of neighbors walk through our doors to pick up fresh, healthy food for their families. Our Martha’s Table Market is a unique, no-cost resource where families can hand-pick from a variety of wholesome groceries. Whether it’s fresh fruits, veggies, or pantry staples, we’re helping families nourish themselves today while investing in long-term health and wellness.
But that’s not all! Our Joyful Food Markets bring fresh, healthy food directly to local elementary schools in Wards 7 and 8. These markets, held after school on weekdays, visit 10-15 schools every week and reach over 6,000 families each month. Talk about spreading the joy! Families can stock up on seasonal produce, taste-test healthy snacks, and even participate in fun cooking demos. We’re all about making healthy food exciting and accessible—because who says healthy eating can’t be fun?
Eating well is about more than just filling our plates—it’s about fueling our bodies and minds. At Martha’s Table and Joyful Food Markets, we provide a variety of nutrient-packed foods to help everyone feel their best. From crisp leafy greens to sweet apples and vibrant peppers, there’s always something fresh and delicious to enjoy.
But we don’t stop at just providing healthy food. We’re passionate about sharing how to make the most of it! Through partnerships with community organizations and local chefs, we offer cooking classes, nutrition workshops, and recipe cards that make preparing nutritious meals a breeze. Our Joyful Food Market shoppers get a fun recipe card with every visit—think of it as your personal guide to creating tasty, healthy dishes. Cooking is more fun when you have the right tools, and we’re here to make sure everyone has what they need!

We believe food is more than just a meal—it’s the foundation for building a strong, thriving community. By providing our neighbors with access to healthy food, we’re doing more than filling plates—we’re investing in the health and future of everyone we serve.
Our Community Health Nutritionist Katherine Donnelly adds,
“By addressing hunger and creating avenues for fresh produce, we are igniting a movement for community health. Our commitment to nutrition security empowers our neighbors through nutrition education, meal planning, cooking skills, and strategies to maximize their food budgets. Through recipes, food sampling, and cooking demonstrations, we are shaping a healthier future for all.” -Katherine Donnelly, Community Health Nutritionist
Our markets are at the heart of healthy living, demonstrating the power of community support and generosity in creating lasting change. By offering no-cost access to fresh, nutritious foods, we’re reducing obstacles to healthy eating.
Together, with the incredible support of our volunteers, donors, and partners, we’re making a meaningful impact and ensuring that everyone in our community has the opportunity to thrive.
We need volunteers more than ever! As our markets continue to grow and reach even more families, double the number of neighbors are showing up each week, eager for access to fresh, nutritious food. This surge in demand is a testament to the impact our markets are having, but it also means we need extra hands to keep things running smoothly and continue serving our community.
Volunteers play a crucial role in helping us provide these essential resources. Whether it’s assisting with setup, helping families navigate the market, or supporting cooking demonstrations, your time and effort make a world of difference. With your help, we can ensure that everyone who needs fresh food has access to it—and we can keep up with the growing number of families who depend on us.

Martha’s Outfitters is more than a no-cost community clothing boutique. It is a place where DC neighbors come together, whether they are picking out a professional outfit, shopping for children’s clothes, or lending a hand to help others. At the heart of it all are our volunteers, who keep the boutique running smoothly and welcoming for everyone.

I’m a Senior citizen and I live in Ward 5. Is there a Martha’s Table located near Ward 5 where I can get fresh produce. I’m in need of fresh produce, fruits and bread. I welcome all the help, guidance and support that I can get.
Hello! We currently have two locations for our Martha’s Table Markets. The Commons (2375 Elvans Rd SE DC) and Maycroft (1474 Columbia Rd NW DC). If you are not able to pick up we do welcome neighbors to shop on behalf of one other to support those who can not access our facilities.
