At Martha’s Table, we know that when people come together, amazing things happen. That’s why we’re so excited about the Quilt Corner—a fun, welcoming space where neighbors, volunteers, and friends turn fabric into something truly special.
Crafting can be a soothing and fulfilling act. At The Quilt Corner, you’ll find a supportive space to stitch, share stories, and create something meaningful. Whether you’re an experienced quilter or just starting out, this cozy community is ready to welcome you.
For many, quilting is about more than just fabric and thread—it’s a way to connect, build traditions, and pass down skills through generations.
“I am in a place in my life where I need to get connected to my community. I need to quit quitting. I want to teach my daughter how to do things for herself and be able to make my baby some clothes. We won’t just make clothes—we can make traditions and memories.”
— Kellie J.
Quilting isn’t just about piecing together fabric; it’s about bringing people together, swapping stories, and creating something beautiful. At Quilt Corner, we don’t just stitch fabric—we stitch history. While working on quilts, participants also learn about the Quilt Codes of the Underground Railroad—secret patterns that helped guide enslaved individuals to freedom. It’s a powerful reminder that quilting has always been about more than warmth—it’s about resilience, creativity, and survival.
The quilts made here aren’t just pretty—they’re powerful. Every stitch carries a message of kindness, and every quilter adds their own special touch. It’s more than crafting—it’s community-building, one quilt at a time. And the best part? Quilting is storytelling. Every choice of fabric, every pattern, and every stitch reflects something about the quilter—who they are, what they’ve experienced, and how they see the world. Quilts are like time capsules, preserving the voices of those who create them. So when you join Quilt Corner, you’re not just making something cozy but something that lasts.
We’d love for you to be a part of the Quilt Corner magic. No experience? No problem! We’ve got all the supplies, plenty of guidance, and a group of friendly folks ready to help. Whether you’re here to learn, teach, or just enjoy the company, you’ll fit right in. Each workshop is a chance to practice your skills, share stories, and contribute to something meaningful.

Martha’s Outfitters is more than a no-cost community clothing boutique. It is a place where DC neighbors come together, whether they are picking out a professional outfit, shopping for children’s clothes, or lending a hand to help others. At the heart of it all are our volunteers, who keep the boutique running smoothly and welcoming for everyone.
