Taking the Time to Say Thanks

Like many non-profits over the holidays, things are crazy here at Martha’s Table up until the end of the year.  This year is was no exception; with over 100 children on the wait list for the ever expanding daycare, a new health and wellness workshop in the elementary and bridge programs, the expansion of the teen program to service youth up to 22 years, renovation of Martha’s Outfitters and the expansion of our pantry distribtution to two DC elementary schools it is no wonder we feel crazed.  This is a good crazy though, a productive, heart-warming, big-bear-hug kind of crazy.  With all these new activities and changes to our programs we have implemented some new and necessary fundraising strategies.  One major change is coordinating an annual fundraising event.  This year the event was held in October called October’s Best: Celebrating Martha’s Table.  It was held at the beautiful home of the Turkish Ambassador, honored the former head master of Sidwell Lower School and was a great success thanks to the sponsors of the event, food donors and guests that supported our programs through a silent auction.
