One Pot Suppers Hosts and Guests Combat Hunger in DC

his year, nearly 60 amazing hosts worked with Martha’s Table to invite friends and family for a series of suppers to fight hunger in DC. One Pot Suppers is a yearly event inspired by the “one-pot” meals we serve on McKenna’s Wagon, our famous free food truck that has been serving meals to DC’s homeless every day for over 35 years.

Thanks to all our amazing One Pot Suppers hosts and their friends and families for making this year one for the books! These caring individuals raised over $40,000 to fight hunger and food insecurity in DC. Check out some snapshots of OPS in action:

We were so excited to see many of last year’s hosts open their doors open their doors once again, and for new hosts to join in on the fun! Reflecting on the night, one first time host remarked: “I was a first time participant and had a great time! The initiative was creative and well organized.”

We’d like to shout out these campers for hosting one of the most creative One Pot Suppers yet! Whether you’re gathered around the dining room table, campfire, or picnic blanket, we are truly grateful for your support.

Not only did hosts and their guests enjoy a McKenna’s Wagon-inspired one-pot meal and raise funds for our food programs, but they also embarked on a serious discussion about hunger and food insecurity in DC–a city where 1 in 3 children don’t have reliable access to healthy meals. One host said the discussion was the most rewarding part of the night, coming to the realization with her guests that “hunger is so often invisible, and not where you’d think.”

Thanks again to all of our hosts and their guests. See you next year!
