New Leaders, New Energy

We are fierce for our mission at Martha’s Table. In 2014, the reach and impact of every one of our programs expanded. Through over 150 pop-up markets, our 365-night-a-year food truck and feeding the children in our education programs, we met hunger in the District with over 806,000 meals. Our education team taught and cared for over 100 early childhood students, 50 elementary afterschool students and 20 older youth through SYEP and service learning. More than 9,000 families and individuals shopped at Martha’s Outfitters SE and NW for free clothing and housewares. We, with a new level of audacity, are committed to increasing access to Healthy Starts, Healthy Connections, and healthy Eating throughout the District.

Our fierceness requires a leadership team to match. We are pleased to announce that 3 strong leaders and fierce advocates for low-income DC neighbors are officially on board. Caron, Amy and Tiffany (pictured below) will be joining our talented team and continue to increase the impact and quality of all we do.

Caron Gremont, Senior Director of Healthy Eating. Caron has spent most of her career working in the food and nutrition world.  In 2012, Caron founded First Bites, a nonprofit focused on teaching healthy eating techniques to two-five year olds, and training early child care teachers and families on how to make eating healthy food fun. Caron holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University and was a Vice President at Porter Novelli, the global communications firm.

Tiffany Williams, Director of Healthy Start. Tiffany’s career in early childhood education spans more than 20 years. Tiffany will be joining us from the National Child Research Center (NCRC), where over the years she has held roles ranging from Lead Teacher to Coordinator of Staff Development to, for the past 9 years, Assistant Head of School.

Amy Fishman Kurz, Interim Chief Operating Officer. Amy has dedicated her professional career to nonprofit work, and she brings extensive experience in nonprofit management.  Prior to joining Martha’s Table, she served as the Managing Executive Director of the Nonprofit Roundtable, which aims to unite non-profit leaders in order to address our community’s most pressing social and economic challenges.
