2016 by the Numbers

In 2016, our engaged community supported children, families, and communities across the District. With over 1.6 million meals distributed–a 300% increase from 2015, 18,000 volunteers, over 73,000 individuals reached with healthy meals, and 35 pop-up cost-free grocery markets, 2016 was a year for the books at Martha’s Table.

As we prepare to expand, we are proud to partner with volunteers at our 22 new Joyful Food Markets at elementary schools in Ward 7 and Ward 8.  Our community partners range from Maret School, to World Bank, to Bernstein Management Corporation, to Serve DC.

In 2016, both our teachers and parents were learning. CLASS scores (measuring critical teacher quality attributes) continued to climb, 5 of our teachers completed their Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and, 27 parents participated in our Home Visiting program.

Our education programs saw over 100 students enrolled in quality out-of-school time programming through Healthy Start and Healthy Connections, while 98 students enrolled in our full-day early childhood education program.
