Whole Foods: Community Partner!
On Friday, January 18th, the Tenleytown, P Street and Foggy Bottom Whole Foods Markets made a significant donation of food to Martha’s Table. The drive was part of the Grab and Give campaign, which gives shoppers the opportunity to provide meals for local families as they purchase groceries. The $17,340 donation amounted to 6,123 lbs of food–75,362 meals for DC families in need! Whole Foods staff and thirteen community volunteers delivered 522 cases of pasta, marinara, tuna, and macaroni and cheese directly to our our food pantry. Food hardship is a reality for 19% of DC residents. Through contributions from our 200 partner organizations, we are able to distribute over 500,000 meals annually in D.C.
Martha’s Table is immensely grateful to Whole Foods Market and its patrons for such generosity. Thank you for helping us start 2013 inspired–and prepared to fight hunger!
