Chelsea Clinton Returns to Martha’s Table
In September, Martha’s Table was proud to welcome back former volunteer Chelsea Clinton. Chelsea—now a leader at the Clinton Foundation and Clinton Global Initiative—first visited Martha’s Table as a teenager. This year, she returned as part of her book tour for It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going, which mentions Martha’s Table and encourages young adults to make an impact through service. During her visit, Chelsea met with our leaders, students, and teachers, and volunteered to sort clothes at Martha’s Outfitters and make sandwiches for McKenna’s Wagon. She also toured our 14th Street facility to learn about the many ways Martha’s Table’s programs continue to transform to meet the needs of our evolving community. In 2018, we will extend our impact by opening a new center east of the Anacostia river, an area considered among the most economically depressed in the city. Thanks to Chelsea for donating her time to volunteer with us and learn more about our exciting expansion!
