Martha’s Table Sees the Man in the Mirror
“If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and then make a change.” These inspirational words, sung by the late Michael Jackson, echoed through out the Verizon Center this Sunday as Martha’s Table went to the Cirque du Soleil to see Michael Jackson’s Immortal World Tour.
“That was awesome!” said one of the children from Martha’s Table at the end of the show. Audience members, young and old, sang their hearts out while remembering an era of tube socks, one-gloved hands, popped collars, and the Thriller dance. With the show’s theme dedicated to the timeless artist’s work, the audience watched as performers wowed them with high-flying acrobatics, classic dance moves, and amazing costumes.
Thank you to all who came to MJ’s show and Martha’s Table’s pre-show reception this weekend! Martha’s Table sponsors and supporters, staff members, board members and volunteers gathered together to make the exciting event successful. Everyone truly embodied Michael Jackson’s lyrics “if you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and then make a change”, together we raised $100,000 for our programs! Thank you again to Dee Dee Myers, who hosted the event at the Dewar’s Clubhouse. It was packed with fun and exciting features complete with music from Christylez, circus performers, face-painter, photo booth from PoshBooth and a stilt walker to greet our guests. Children lined up to have Iron Man, butterflies, swans, stars and many more pictures painted onto their faces to get into the circus spirit!
We wanted to say a special thank you to Stone Soup Films for creating a heart-warming film about Martha’s Table. You can view the film here and we will feature it on our site shortly.
