Martha’s Table: 35 Years of Partnering with District Neighbors

35 years ago, Martha’s Table was founded by Dr. Veronica Maz and Father Horace B. McKenna with $93 and a desire to provide a safe space and food for the youth and hungry on 14th Street. Now,  Martha’s Table works throughout the District– currently at 16 locations, including 12 Martha’s Markets at elementary schools and 2 Martha’s Outfitters thrift stores– and increase access to critical supports.

In 2015, we are celebrating our 35-year history and Setting the Table for the Next 35.

Our Healthy Start, Healthy Eating, and Healthy Connections initiatives build better tomorrows through providing both emergency and long-term solutions to the challenges of poverty. Please visit our programs page for more information on how our programs enact these initiatives. We remain fierce for our mission of standing with low-income children, families, and individuals in the District.

2015 is an exciting year for Martha’s Table.

Beginning with the launch of our new website, we will be celebrating our long history working in the District of Columbia and planning for The Next 35 and will be sharing stories and our ambitious plans for the future. Please check back in for more stories and announcements in the months to come.
