Kisha Lee

Director of Healthy Start

Dr. Kisha Lee has worked with young children and their families for almost 25 years as a teacher, administrator and trainer for early childhood programs. She has also worked as a certified public school teacher in Maryland, an independent small group preschool owner and an accreditor team member and leader for early childhood programs in Texas. A native of the Washington Metropolitan area, Dr. Lee has returned after ten years in Texas after serving as the Director of the Children’s Center at Texas A&M University in which the families represented 32 different countries and spoke 26 different languages.

A huge proponent of project-based learning for young children and the belief that every child has an unlimited potential within them, her passion resides in supporting and empowering teachers and ensuring the healthy growth and development of children with strong family and community ties. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood from the University of Maryland, a Master’s in Education from UMD University College and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University.
