Volunteers Needed: Gorilla Challenge

09.21.2011

We need 10 passionate Martha’s Table volunteers on Ocotber 1st from 8am – 3pm to volunteer with the Gorilla Challenge (an amazing race style race) and spread the word about Martha’s Table.  The Gorilla Challenge is coming to DC and they have chosen Martha’s Table as there community partner.  All racers bring in a canned good for Martha’s Table.

Volunteers will be doing the following activities…

Set – up (8:00am – 9:00am): helping us lay things out on the tables, blowing up balloons and an orientation to the specifics of how the day will run
Registration/check in (9:00am – 10:15am): Some people will be handing out shirts, some will be checking people off a list, and others will give out wristbands.
Activity sites (10:30am – 1:30pm): We would need 5-8 volunteers to go out and man our ‘activity sites.’ Participants will run to these sites and find the person wearing the designated shirt. That person will have instructions for a short quick activity. Participants complete the activity and the volunteer stamps their clue sheet as proof of completion. At 2:00 all activity site volunteers can return to Gordon Biersch to eat lunch.
Clue distribution (10:30am):The remaining volunteers who haven’t left to man clue sites will help pass out the clues at 11:00am
Pack up of registration tables and orientation to check out (10:45am – 11:00am): The volunteers remaining at Gordon Biersch will packup registration materials and learn how to help participants check back in at the end
Lunch (11:00am – ~12:00pm): All volunteers who remained at the Gordon Biersch will eat lunch. This is where there’s a possibility to switch out some of the volunteers at Gordon Biersch with those at activity sites
Check out (~12:00pm – 1:30pm): This is where the participants are running back in showing us their pictures and proving they went to the activity sites. Volunteers will be checking pictures, taking pictures with teams, recording finish times and spend a lot of time talking and having fun with participants.
Everyone will receive a free lunch and a Gorilla Challenge T-Shirt.
