On Thursday August 11^th, 2011, our Child Development Center had a great surprise from Chef Herb Holden. The children sat in amazement as they watched Chef Holden create ducks from yellow squash, penguins from eggplant, angels from Chinese lettuce and roses from watermelon. Chef Holden believes “all you need is a knife and imagination.” Chef Holden is a Nutrition Educator and Chef for the University of the District of Columbia. His passion to teach kids to eat healthy inspired to become a nutrition educator. He left the restaurant business to work one-on-one with kids in order to combat childhood obesity. Chef Holden’s motto is, “Education is more important than just teaching, it’s about passion!” We truly appreciate Chef Holden coming in and putting on a fascinating show for our students. Martha’s Table truly puts forth effort to ensure our children are educated and eating healthy, people like Chef Holden are a great help.
